Objective:

This course will enable the students -

To acquaint the students with the main features of Indian culture along with the emergence of different religions and their contributions to the Indian culture.
It would enable the students to comprehend the complex interplay between continuity and change, between the, past and the current Indian structure of the society.
To study the contribution of the famous scholars and poets to the Literary Heritage of India.

The students will be able to –

CO1-Get acquainted with the main features of Indian culture Vedas and Upanishadic Philosophy and Epics.

CO2-Develop an understanding about the Origin, Development and contribution of Buddhism and Jainism.

CO3-Learn about the Varna- Ashrams, Purusharthas, Sanskaras, Joint family and the caste system.

CO4-Develop an understanding about the genesis and development of Bhakti Movement and Sufism and their impact on Indian culture.

CO5-Understand the development of Indian literary and scientific heritage
