Course Objectives

This course will enable the students -                                           

  1. To understand the meaning, nature and scope of History.
  2. To develop the Knowledge, understanding of the Historical Fact and its Interpretation
  3. To deepen the knowledge about the theories of History-Cyclical and Linear

Theories and Methods of History

The students will be able to -

CO41- Develop an understanding the Meaning, Nature and scope of History.

CO42- Analyse the historical Fact and its Interpretation in History

CO43- Demonstrate historical concepts such as facts, causation, generalization, individual in history and the question of objectivity and subjectivity in history to understand various dimensions of human past.

CO44- Critically Analyze the various theories of History – Cyclical with special reference to Spengler and Toynbee.

CO45 – Develop an understanding on the various Linear Theories of History such as Christian, Marx, Hegel and Acton.

Approach in teaching:

Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Reading assignments, Power Point Presentation

 

Learning activities for the students:

Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, Seminar presentation, Giving tasks.

Class test, Semester end examinations, Quiz, Solving problems in tutorials, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and group projects
