Objective: 

Course Objectives:

This course will enable the students to -

  1.  Acquaint them with the various political developments in India in Modern India with particular reference to the Marathas, Bengal, the emergence of regional powers and their absorption in the British Empire.
  2. Deepen their understanding about the establishment, development and growth of British paramountcy along with the uprising of 1857.
  3. Understand the rise and development of National Movement as well as the constitutional developments in India till 1950.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

CO16- Examine the establishment of British power in India and analyse the nature of its expansion and consolidation

CO17- Deepen the understanding about the Anglo – Mysore and Anglo Sikh Wars and the role of Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan and Ranjit Singh.

CO18- Developed an understanding on the nature and causes of 1857 Revolt

CO19- Comprehend knowledge on the foundation of Indian National Congress and rise of Moderate, Extremists and Revolutionaries.

CO20- Grasp the details of freedom movement and nationalism under Gandhiji, Communal Politics and Partition of India.
