Guest lecture on Rajput Mughal Relations after Aurangzeb

The Department of History organized a Guest lecture on Rajput Mughal Relations after Aurangzeb for the Students of Department of History on 19th August 2019. The Guest Speaker on this Occasion was Professor Inayat Zaidi (Former Professor, Department of History & Culture, Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi).

The guest was welcomed by floral greetings by the head of the Dept. Professor Sharad Rathore, who went on to give a short introduction about him. The speaker started with the issues in Jammu Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A. He further spoke about the regional conflicts between Rajputs, Jats, Brahmins and other communities. And how Matrimonial alliances with other communities were used to resolve these conflicts and establish cordial relations.

He also elaborated about Akbar's policies regarding Rajput-Mughal relations and their effectiveness. How these policies were modified by subsequent Mughal rulers was also discussed. Moreover he also quoted various examples of the inter-caste marriages between Rajputs and Mughals. 

He told the students that several accounts were available for the justification of these relations. 

Lastly, a student presented the vote of thanks to the guest. Overall, it was a successful session which is supposed to help the students in their studies immensely.
