A guest lecture on The Growth of British Paramountcy was organized on 2nd September,2014 by the Department of History for the Fifth semester students of the University. The speaker on this occasion was Dr Veenu Pant, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Kanodia College, Jaipur. Dr Pant talked about the factors that contributed to the taking over of the Sovereignty by the British. She talked about the theory of Growth of British Paramountcy as put forward by Lee Warner. She illustrated the stages of growth with the help of suitable instances. The Queen’s Proclamation initiated the process and it continued with time until the British emerged as the supreme political power in India. The lecture was followed by a question answer session in which the speaker answered the queries of the students. Ms Monisha Raj Soyal proposed a formal vote of thanks to the speaker. The students appreciated the lecture which added to their knowledge of the subject.
