Hyundai in association with 'Connect signal' organised a Two day workshop on Terracotta Art for Hope for the Department of History in collaboration with the Department of Visual Arts on 20-21 February 2023 at the IIS (deemed to be University) Jaipur.
Connect Signal works in the field of livelihood generation, women empowerment, skill development, rural enterprise development and Indian traditional art and craft development. It works in various villages of Rajasthan for the empowerment of women, youth and artisans.
The resource person of this workshop was eminent artisan Ramesh Chanda Kumar of Sawai madhopur.
He was welcomed by the Registrar- Dr. Rakhee Gupta who showered light on the importance of Indian crafts and encouraged the students while explaining about the significance of Indian knowledge system, traditional artworks and skills that need to be revived. An exhibition of the prepared terrcotta articles was organised and opened for all students of the University.The Chief Guest of the Valedictory session was Mr. Sunny Sebestinene and Ms.Anupama Saxena, RDS Jaipur. They judged the exhibition and selected best threearticles for awards and one group award. The winners were given a prize and all the participates were given participation certificate by the guests, Chancellor Dr. Ashok Gupta and Dr. Rakhee Gupta. The Programme ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: The students were given hands-on training on terracotta artifacts. The students got a chance to develop the skills which helped them understand the history, culture and traditions of the folk art of Rajasthan.
