Towards Equality: Report of the Committee on the Status of Women in India is a landmark in the women's movement in independent India and has had a significant impact on women's policy and legislation. It brought attention to the issues associated with workplace disparities, gaps in higher education, limited access to women welfare policies and violence against women in media.

Prof. Suba highlighted the discriminatory sociocultural practices and political and economic processes that women faced and how the report addresses all such issues. The report's recommendations helped to make the rights guaranteed to women in the Constitution and laws more meaningful. According to Prof. Suba, the report revisits the status of women and women’s movement in the 21st century India. Prof. Suba's lecture not only highlighted the historical importance of the report but gave it an interdisciplinary undertone by highlighting its significance in gender studies and women's development in India.
