The Department of History and Indian Culture organized an educational tour to Amber Fort, Jaipur, on 8th February 2025, with the objective of providing students with first-hand experience of Rajasthan’s rich heritage and architectural brilliance. A group of 76 students accompanied by faculty members visited the fort, exploring its historical significance, artistic features, and strategic military design.
Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exemplifies Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The students observed key attractions such as the Ganesh Pol, Sheesh Mahal, Diwan-e-Aam, and Diwan-e-Khas, learning about their historical and cultural relevance. A guided tour provided detailed insights into the fort’s construction, defense mechanisms, and the lifestyle of Rajput rulers. The intricate mirror work, frescoes, and water conservation techniques fascinated the students.
The tour enhanced students’ understanding of medieval Indian history and the sociopolitical context of Rajputana. The visit concluded with an interactive discussion where students shared their observations and insights. The tour was a highly enriching experience, reinforcing classroom learning through real-world exposure.
